Jack Prisciandaro is coordinating the Goshen summer camp program for our Pack. This camp is specifically designed for rising Web1 and Web2 cub scouts (i.e. boys who are currently in the 3rd and 4th grade) and their parents.

This year the dates for the camp are 7/31–8/5.

The cost for this camp is listed below :

(Youth/Adult )
By 4/329 : $275/$205
By 6/3 $320/$230
At Camp : $350/$260

General info about this camp is available at:
http://www.boyscouts-ncac.org/openrosters/ViewOrgPageLink.asp?LinkKey=31446&orgkey=1933

As an extra incentive to sign up all the boys who sign up and submit a $50 deposit before March 18 will receive a FREE Goshen Hat.

If the pack is able to get 8 boys to submit a $50 deposit before March 18th, the camp will pay for two free adults to attend the camp. As a courtesy to other adults that can join us, we will divide up the two free adult registration fees with all the adults that sign up.

Powhatan Cub Scout Day Camp

There is snow on the ground --- but plans are underway for this
summer’s Powhatan District Cub Scout Day Camp. The theme this year
is Knights and Dragons. The camp is held at a beautiful site in
Algonkian Park near the Potomac River.

Our scouts typically have a blast. With archery, crafts, nature
sessions, hikes, swimming, games, scouting skills, and other
adventures --- what’s not to like?

Every Pack needs a volunteer to serve as a coordinator. That
responsibilities includes collecting forms, fees and coordinating
transportation. Once you have a coordinator, ask them to contact us
so we can add them to our yahoo group for summer camp. The camp
calendar and Pack information is located at this site. Send an email
request to be added to powhatan.district.cub.scout.camp@gmail.com.

The camp is also looking for volunteers to serve as adult staff at
the camp. It is a lot of fun and very rewarding. Anyone 14 and older
may volunteer. Please contact Stephanie Zimmermann if you are
interested in helping as staff at camp. You may contact her at
powhatan.district.cub.scout.camp@gmail.com.

If any of your families need financial help to ensure that their son
attends camp please complete the registration form. The form can be downloaded at http://bit.ly/hZ0DNf

Pack leadership submits the camper aid forms directly to the Bethesda service center.
All applications are due by April 15th! We want to ensure that your
pack does everything in your power to ensure that a boy that wants to
attend camp has that opportunity.

Canaan Valley, WV, ski trip

March 11-13

From trip organizer Carrie D'Alessandro (Click here to e-mail Carrie)

I will need a deposit of 1/2 your payment by January 30th and the final payment by February 13th. After February 10th there will be no refunds as I have to give them my room numbers and am then responsible for full payment

Arrival will be Friday sometime after 3 pm, and departure will be Sunday afternoon whenever you are ready to quit skiing. The package this year is more inclusive than in past years. It will include ski rental, helmet rental and a beginning lesson. There is complimentary parking for all guests, complimentary high speed internet in all rooms and complimentary shuttle service between the main lodge and the ski area. The resort has an indoor swimming pool and game room for the kids. It is about a 3 1/2 hour drive from Fairfax County.

Here is a list of prices for this year and what the package includes.

  • Single Occupancy - $203.00 per person

  • Double Occupancy - $153.00 per person

  • Triple Occupancy - $144.00 per person

  • Quad Occupancy - $139.00 per person

Package includes:

  • Lodging for 2 nights

  • 2 Skiers Breakfast Buffets

  • 1 Skiers Dinner Buffet

  • 2 Day Lift Ticket

  • 2 Day Ski Rental

  • Helmet Rental

  • ! !/2 Hr. Beginners Ski or Snowboard Lesson

  • Taxes, Service Charges and Resort Fee

Ski Additions:

  • 2 Day Snowboard Rental Upgrade - Adult $25, Junior $25

  • 2 Hour Tubing Session - $12

  • 2 Hour Ice Skating w/skates - $7

You will need to schedule any lessons, tubing, and skating with the resort when you arrive.

The package cannot be altered with the exception of a non-skier. There are non-skier rates if someone in your family does not ski. If you need those rates let me know.

Children under 5 are free except for rentals.

The rooms are small and made to accommodate 4 people with 2 double beds. Families with more than 4 will need to reserve a 2nd room as the fire codes do not allow the resort to book more than 4 in each room.

If you want to stay an extra night on either end Canaan is offering us a $55 room rate for single or double occupancy. $10 for each additional person after two. And a lift ticket on Friday for $17 and ski rental for $21. The ski area is not open on Monday, March 14th.

This trip is open to all scouts and their friends and families. So make it a group trip if you would like.
